We collect the following information when you use Proficienzy: • Account information: name and email address when you register • Learning data: lessons completed, quiz scores, streak count, XP, and CEFR level • Usage data: which features you use and how often • Voice recordings: only when you use Speaking or Shadowing features — recorded temporarily for pronunciation feedback and not stored permanently • Device information: device type and operating system for app compatibility
We use your information to: • Provide and personalise your learning experience • Track your progress and calculate your CEFR level • Send account-related emails (e.g. password reset, email verification) • Improve the app based on how it is used • Ensure the security of your account
Your data is stored securely using Supabase (hosted in the United States). We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
When you use Speaking or Shadowing features, your voice is processed in real time by Deepgram (a speech-to-text service) solely for pronunciation feedback. Voice recordings are not stored after processing.
We use the following third-party services: • Supabase — database and authentication • Deepgram — speech recognition • ElevenLabs — text-to-speech audio • Sentry — error monitoring • Vercel — web hosting Each service has its own privacy policy governing their use of data.
Proficienzy uses cookies to store information about visitors' preferences, to record user-specific information on which pages the site visitor accesses or visits, and to personalize or customize our web page content based on visitors' browser type or other information. We use Google AdSense to serve advertisements on our website. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies (including the DoubleClick DART cookie) to serve ads to users based on their visit to our site and other sites on the Internet. Users may opt out of the use of the DART cookie by visiting the Google Ad and Content Network Privacy Policy at the following URL: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads Third-party ad servers or ad networks may also use cookies, JavaScript, or Web Beacons to measure the effectiveness of their advertisements and/or to personalize the advertising content. Proficienzy is intended for users aged 13 and over. Our Kids Zone feature is designed for young learners under parental supervision. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.
