Proficienzy was built because great English education should not cost money. We combine real YouTube content, AI-powered feedback, and structured lessons so anyone can grow, regardless of budget.

Our mission

Millions of people want to improve their English but cannot afford expensive courses or private tutors. We set out to change that by building a complete learning platform that is free forever, for everyone, at every level.

Proficienzy covers all six core skills: Reading, Listening, Speaking, Vocabulary, Grammar, and Writing. Each skill area has structured lessons with AI feedback, so learners always know exactly what to work on next.

Our story

Proficienzy started as a personal project to help people learn English the way native speakers actually use it: through real conversations, authentic media, and consistent daily practice. The app grew from a simple idea into a full platform covering every major English skill.

Today Proficienzy has learners across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and beyond, all working towards fluency at their own pace. We are a small, independent team passionate about making language learning truly accessible.

Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026. We take your privacy seriously and only collect what we need to run the service.

What we collect

  • Account information: your name and email address when you sign up.
  • Learning data: lesson progress, XP, completed exercises, and skill scores to personalise your experience.
  • Audio recordings: when you use speaking practice features, short recordings are processed by our AI and are not stored permanently.
  • Usage data: pages visited, features used, and session length to help us improve the product.

How we use your data

  • To operate and personalise your learning experience.
  • To send occasional product updates if you opt in.
  • To improve features based on aggregated, anonymous usage patterns.
  • We never sell your data to third parties.

Data storage

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, hosted on infrastructure with industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit. We retain account data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time.

Third-party services

We use the following services to power features: ElevenLabs (text-to-speech for lessons), Deepgram (speech-to-text for speaking practice), and YouTube (embedded video content). Each service has its own privacy policy.

Your rights

  • Access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time from Account Settings.
  • Request a copy of all data we hold about you.
  • Withdraw consent and close your account at any time.

Using Proficienzy

  • Proficienzy is free to use. You do not need a paid subscription to access any feature.
  • You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Users under 18 should have parental permission.
  • You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.
  • You agree not to misuse the service, attempt to reverse-engineer it, or access it in ways that damage or disrupt it.

Your content

Any text or audio you submit through speaking or writing practice features remains yours. By submitting it you grant us a limited licence to process it for the purpose of providing AI feedback. We do not use your content for advertising or sell it to third parties.

Intellectual property

All Proficienzy lesson content, UI, and code is owned by Proficienzy. Video content embedded from YouTube remains the property of the original creators and is subject to YouTube terms. Do not copy or redistribute our lesson materials without written permission.

Availability

We aim to keep Proficienzy running continuously, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability. We reserve the right to change or discontinue features at any time. We will give reasonable notice before any significant changes.

Limitation of liability

Proficienzy is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the past 12 months (which, given our free model, is zero).
